Interest in cloud computing has gained momentum during the COVID-19 pandemic.

CompTIA just introduced a beta test for its updated Cloud+ certification, and you can take it remotely for the first time.

The Cloud+ beta exam places greater emphasis on cloud security and high availability. That ensures users have around-the-clock access to data and SaaS applications.

The test also emphasizes the foundational aspects of cloud technology, as well as compliance requirements. The Cloud+ certification validates abilities, knowledge and skills IT pros require to work in data centers.

CompTIA is inviting IT professionals to be a part of the first group to earn the new CompTIA Cloud+ credential.

“Test takers have the opportunity to take the exam at a location, date and time most convenient for them,” said Randall Edwards, CompTIA‘s senior manager of certification product management.

The beta exam is available now through Oct. 6, or until a sufficient number of people have taken the test. Candidates who pass the beta exam will become CompTIA Cloud+ certified.

“Strong security and 24/7 user access to data and applications have always been important in the business setting,” said Edwards. “But they have become critical in the work-from-home world we live in today. IT professionals who are CompTIA Cloud+ certified have demonstrated their knowledge and ability to implement robust security measures in any cloud environment regardless of which cloud vendor solutions are in place.”

Interest in cloud computing, already strong among businesses, has gained momentum during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last month, CompTIA surveyed some of its corporate members’ companies. It showed 50% of MSPs and technology solution providers got new inquiries or business opportunities from customers interested in shifting their on-premises applications and infrastructure to the cloud. Also, one in three (33%) technology companies had responded to customers wanting to address cybersecurity issues related to the cloud.
